ZubFeat AI Featured Image is a WordPress plugin I built to bring image generation into the publishing workflow. It turns a post title, or a title with a short excerpt, into a featured image from the post editor.
From a post idea to a featured image
Choose OpenAI or OpenRouter, add your own API key and select a quality level. The plugin saves the result as a standard WordPress featured image, ready for themes and page builders to display.
- Generate from a title alone or include an excerpt for more context.
- Choose a quality preset, specify a model, or select an aspect ratio suited to the site.
- Use the block editor or classic editor to generate and assign the image.
- Use a local branded title-card template when no API key is available. This fallback is a simple non-AI graphic.
A practical AI integration
I designed and developed the plugin, including its editor controls, provider settings and image-generation workflow. API requests go from the WordPress site's server to the selected provider, rather than through my servers.
The plugin is free on WordPress.org. AI generation uses the site owner's API account, with usage charged by the selected provider.
