Kotlin app / Android

C/C++ Studio.

A C and C++ step debugger for students. Write a program, run it one line at a time, and read in plain words what each line did to your variables, pointers and the call stack.

Coming soon to Google Play.

What you get

Every line explained

Read what each line did: which variables changed, from what to what, and why an if or a loop went the way it did.

Step forwards and back

Run the whole program, run one line, or undo the last line to see it again.

Pointers you can see

A pointer shows what it points at, such as “→ a in main” or “→ arr[2]”, not just an address.

The call stack

Each call gets its own frame with its own variables, so recursion stops being a mystery.

C and C++ basics

printf and scanf, structs and malloc, cout and cin, classes, references, string and vector.

graphics.h

Turbo C style circle, line, rectangle, floodfill, delay and sound, on a real screen.

Errors in plain words

A missing semicolon, scanf without &, or an index past the end of an array is explained with how to fix it.

Made for a phone

Code colouring, the symbols C needs above the keyboard, and full-screen editor, console and graphics.

Real memory, not a guess

C/C++ Studio compiles your program for a small machine that runs on your phone. Every variable has a real address, so pointers, arrays, strings, structs and malloc behave as they do in C, and the explanations quote values read from that memory.

It works offline and needs no account. Your program is kept on your device. The app is free and shows a small banner advert below the work area.

The C++ part covers what a first course uses, not the whole language: there is no inheritance, templates or iterators yet. If your program needs something that is missing, write to [email protected] and tell me which.
